Re: 2026 Minor League Expansion Draft Thread

I know it wont take me 3 days, but it will be nice to not have race other guys for names just yet. That can come later haha. However I think if both of us fill our roster prior to the deadline we could open up free agency sooner

Re: 2026 Minor League Expansion Draft Thread

One final question/clarity I have. How are we handling MLB guys on our rosters? For example, if I have a player that is promoted and in the bigs, can I add another minor league prospect? Or since I dont have an mlb team do I have to continue to use a minor league spot on him?

Take Dollander for example, he is in the MLB. Can I have 20 prospects plus Dollander? And then if he is sent down I just have to drop someone.

Re: 2026 Minor League Expansion Draft Thread

You have 20 spots. If guys get promoted, you would still keep them, but they still count against your 20.  You won't have your roster locked like the rest of us do, but you don't get extra players. Once you get an MLB team, you will have to promote any that are in the majors at that time to unlock your minors roster.

Cool so everyone else can take advantage of guys getting promoted and gathering more prospects but we cant. I get not making it easy for us but damn a lot of this is putting us at a disadvantage compared to existing teams

Re: 2026 Minor League Expansion Draft Thread

Sorry you feel that way Jdub. We knew the staged rollout of minor leagues this year plus major leagues next year could create a situation like this. Ultimately, the simplest solution was to have any call ups sit on a minor league roster for this season.

If we were to do expansion again, my preference would be to do it all in one offseason. Unfortunately, the suggestion to do this came too late to build consensus, write a process and get it done before the MLB season started.

Re: 2026 Minor League Expansion Draft Thread

I'm not sure what you mean.  If we have players on our minors team that are in the majors, and we don't move them up, our rosters are locked. Yours won't be. That allows you to grab some guys that are close to the majors without worrying about being locked if they get called up. That's already an advantage to you that we don't get.

If we move a guy up to the majors, that means we have to also drop someone from the majors. Meaning that person is now available.  We would (in that instance) be dropping a proven player for a potential long shot minor league player (let's be honest, there are very few top 150 players that are ever available here because so many of the sharks are all over things). So we are giving up a known MLB player, for a prospect who may turn out to be nothing. We don't get to just keep collecting minor league prospects, we have to give something up in order to do that. If a team chooses to give up actual established MLB players to move more guys up so they can add the 14th best prospect in the Royal's minor league system, then so be it. That's not really that big of an advantage lol.

Re: 2026 Minor League Expansion Draft Thread

I’m posting this here so as not to clog up the minor league adds thread but I’d like to apologize to all of the original owners as it was not my intent for minor league players to be drafted from everyone’s teams, only to be dropped in a period of free agency while your rosters were still frozen.

The draft was built so that each expansion team would draft 12 players, add 8 more in free agency and then free agency would open for everyone. I did not foresee this mass dropping of drafted players and frankly, I’m going to hold off on saying anything else for now. Except that this wasn’t my intention and that I’m sorry.

I will say this, future expansions won’t happen like this and drafts will have certain safeguards in play.

Re: 2026 Minor League Expansion Draft Thread

My roster moves are complete. I am fine with opening free agency to everyone. Don't think it needs to wait 3 days.

Re: 2026 Minor League Expansion Draft Thread

With both guys filled up to 20, do we still want to wait until Friday?  Or move up the opening of things up for the rest of us!
