Good morning everyone, as I’ve previously stated, this expansion draft has gone a way that I did not intend, and want to assure everyone that if/when expansion happens in the future, my intent is to lock down these items to ensure stability in our draft process. I just want to talk about stability for a minute. This league’s stability is the reason why it’s existed, in a dynasty format, for more than 15 years. When I floated the idea to start a dynasty league on the original 4SFC, dynasty leagues weren’t really a “thing”. There wasn’t an easy way to run a dynasty league, we certainly didn’t have tools like multiple websites to research prospects and never could have dreamed about fantasy rankings specifically geared towards dynasty leagues. We were ahead of the curve.
The reason this league has lasted for so long, and with so many of our original owners, is because of stability in the league. I know that my reluctance to innovate positions, stat categories, etc. has frustrated some of you over the years but I truly love this league and every decision I’ve made along the way is to make sure that this is everyone’s favorite fantasy league. We maintain this stability by publishing clear rules, avoiding chaos and doing the right thing by our owners. The free agent period after this draft did not work the way that I intended it to, nor did it work the way that I told many of you it would before it started. I know that some owners based their protected list strategy based off information I had given them, and while I know that I’ve said this before, I apologize to anyone impacted by the difference between my intentions and how the actual results played out.
So what do we do for recovery? As I’ve weighed things in my head, the only real solution is one that Clint and I have talked about for future expansion drafts; a rule that echoes MLB Rule 5 drafts. As I’m sure most of you are aware, when an MLB team loses a prospect to the Rule 5 draft and that player does not remain on an MLB roster for the entire year, that prospect is returned to their original MLB team. We talked about including a rule like this in the next expansion draft, but we’re going to put it into place now.
Effective immediately, the following players who were drafted and dropped are being returned to their original teams:
Nick Morabito (Bird)
Jay Allen (Rock)
Dorian Soto (Champs)
Heston Kjerstad (Bleed Blue)
Alejandro Osuna (Duchess)
Sammy Satura (Urbanites)
Jhonkensy Noel (Westtown)
If the expansion teams drop any of the other drafted players throughout the 2026 season, they’ll also be returned to their original owners. As Rock has already posted his intention to drop Griff McGarry, he’ll remain a free agent. If anyone wishes to drop these players, please post it in the add/drop thread.
At this point, it appears that the expansion teams have filled their rosters and free agency will open for everyone else at 5P (EDT) tomorrow, Friday, April 10, the date that was previously communicated.

Thanks Bird. Appreciate the openness and explanation. We knew there were a lot of details to think out, so I don't think we ever expected it to be perfect. We live and we learn. I think there are still a few other items we could clean up, but we are never going to make it a win for everyone. Thanks for your continued leadership. For the record, your goal is being met. This is by far one of the best leagues out there with a great group of guys.
