2026 Business

Ok guys, we've had a lot of talk about expansion and other rules changes and I wanted to start with the realistic business for the 2026 season. Below are my proposals. We'll start with expansion since I know that's at the top of everyone's wish list:

Expansion - As we've previously discussed, there isn't a way to do expansion in 2026 and be fair to our current GMs. But there's also no reason why we couldn't start the process this year with the minor league portion.
* We'll start the minor league expansion draft on Opening Day since the first month of the season is typically the slowest for minor league adds.
* Existing minor league rosters will be frozen during the draft and only players on minor league rosters (4SFC rosters) will be eligible to be drafted. No players on Yahoo rosters will be eligible.
(While I understand this allows for some teams to "stash" minor leaguers on Yahoo rosters, it comes at the expense of a major league player. If you value a lower level MiLB player that much, knock yourself out)
* The new owners will have no more than 24 hours to make each pick, which means that the draft will last a maximum of 24 days.
* Existing owners will need to have their protected lists in prior to the start of the Opening Day draft. For the first round of the draft, existing owners will be able to protect 10 players. Once an owner has lost one player, they may submit an additional five protected players for round 2.
* Each round will consist of one player being chosen from each team, with each new teams picking a total of 6 players in each round. No team may have more than or less than one player chosen in each round.
* After the two rounds of the draft, the new owners will have 3 days to fill out the rest of their 20-man rosters. At that point, we'll unfreeze the minor league rosters and existing GMs can backfill their two open spots.
* I'll randomly choose the draft order for this initial draft. These two owners will choose #1 and #2 in the minor league draft in the reverse order of this initial draft.

Prior to starting this draft, we need to verify that the two new owners are actually interested in participating in this league. We'll also need to get them registered for this site.

Ok, on to other rule changes:

SP Slots - While I'd love to shift two P spots to SP for 2026, I think that's a fairly drastic change. So, we'll take a tiered approach, we'll shift one P slot to SP for 2026 and shift one additional P slot to SP for 2027. The hope here being that we can reduce some of the premium currently put on RPs and to bring them more in line with their actual value in MLB. Because of this change, we are going to hold off on adding holds to the Save category to see if this roster spot change accomplishes the same goal.

Transaction Limits - We're going to institute a transaction limit of 100 moves and see how it goes. That should only impact some of the most aggressive roster churning without penalizing anyone making normal roster moves. We'll see how this goes in 2026 and make additional changes, if necessary, in 2027.

I'm interested in hearing thoughts if anyone has some.

Thanks Bird

Expansion-good with it.
SP Slot-dreams do come true lol
Transaction Limits-should only affect one or two of us. Now if you chopped it down to 50, people would actually start watching their pick ups.

Re: 2026 Business

Sounds good. Thanks Bill.

I think you’ve covered most of it. And now I understand- if I scream loud enough and long enough like CJ then things change 😂 Knowing this group, some of us will find a way to get exploit the new rules lol

Not a big fan of the transaction limits but will deal with it.

can you generate the draft orders for next year?
