I get where you’re coming from, Clint. But I think the yes vote isn’t a blank check. It’s just saying we’re open to expansion and can start locking in the details from there. Nothing happens overnight. It’s just step one so we can actually shape what it looks like instead of letting the idea stall out

Exactly!
Real life equivalent….I got authorization to develop a program ie the yes vote. Filled a need, now we have to flesh out all the logistics. You guys are logistics masters.

As someone who is currently in charge of logistics at work this sort of mentality drives me nuts haha.
I think maybe some clarification on what the vote is for would help. My assumption is the vote is for expansion going into this next year but the vibe I get from the previous two answers is that a yes just means we are open to expansion.

Sales vs Ops, the eternal power struggle 😆. Without sales there is no vision, no growth. Without Ops nothing will get done, and complete chaos will ensue.
Here’s to hoping unlike our government we can find middle ground🙏🏽

careful here, the anti-change caucus is about to declare a league shutdown 😬😱

I'm fine with sales in my company or even leaders saying let's do this. I hate when they say let's do this but have no idea if we can actually do it and then Im left to pick up the pieces. Super annoying.

Actually Westtown had a pretty solid plan, and Bird fine tuned it🤷🏽♂️
At this point we can yack until the cows come home. Whoever hasn’t voted please do. Thanks.

Some things that still need to be considered:
1. Do we freeze minor league rosters before the expansion draft
2. What do we do with the minors league players that are on guys rosters that ended the season on major league rosters?
3. Not every team has a full minors roster, one team has 11 guys which means they can only lose one guy in the draft, how do we go about evening this up?
4. Should we even do a minors draft based on the above? There are plenty of prospects out there new teams can scout from and I'd argue we should just give them additional FYPD picks instead to fatten up their minors rosters.
5. How long are we giving folks to respond to protect players in either draft?
6. What is the penalty for owners that don't respond in that time frame? And are they able to answer late to protect guys before a player is taken from their team?
7. Is there any consideration to having teams protect an even number of pitchers and position players so that some teams are not simply dumping their biggest weakness on others?
8. How long do we give each team to pick?
9. When would we start these drafts? My guess is we'd want to wait for mlb's FA period to end so everyone knows what guys still have teams and such, but what do we do if that runs into when we need to have the preseason draft?
10. Would teams be able to bring up guys from their minors roster who are on major league teams to replace open spots on their major league roster during the majors expansion draft?

1. I'm pretty firmly in the camp that we should never freeze the minor league rosters. So no, they wouldn't be locked before or during the draft. This would allow a team to immediately replace a player that is drafted, and maybe we work it out so that the player you select to replace the drafted player is automatically protected.
2. My proposal would be to freeze the Yahoo roster, so if you have a minor leaguer on your Yahoo roster, they're eligible to be drafted from there.
3. Everyone would lose two guys from their MiLB roster. If you only have 11, then you lose 2. There's no reason to only have 11 guys on your MiLB roster at this point.
4. That's a good point that we could discuss.
5-10. We'd need to work through some of these details once we decide if and when we want to do this.

1st, if anything… this all caused the most posts in shortest period of time in the leagues history….
Next…
Teams voting yes so far: 1, 3, 4, 6, 10, 11, 12….
That’s a mix of most of the top tier 2025 teams and most of the bottom tier rebuilders, with just one middle team.
The “no” votes are almost entirely the middle of the pack clubs, minus Preseason (who finished 2nd).
Kind of shows how expansion appeals most to the extremes… the top teams wanting the added challenge, and the bottom teams wanting more opportunity to climb, and the middle wanting things to stay steady.
Interesting how that lines up with where each team appears to be in their fantasy life cycle
